|
|
Now I'm working with very difficult to make sword.
It is wide type XIV from museum in Paris.
Pommel and crossguard are made from steel and gold plated.
In the center of pommel (on the both sides) is rock crystal in gold plated cover.
Under the rock crystal is gold plated cross (E. Oakeshott described this: ancient woven fabric , in the form of the cross).
Of course I don't have ancient woven fabric and I used gilded silver.
More photos soon
This one will be for sale with scabbard (I plan to make XIVth century pattern with many small Fluer de lis)

I've long wanted to see a faithful repro of this sword. You are of to a great start! Magnificent.
Did you estimate measurements by eye? Documenting these in Paris in not an option...

I second that emotion. The original of that sword is a favorite of mine. Seeing a recreation in its gilded glory is quite inspiring.

Wow!
I'm normally not a big fan of gold on swords, but this sword is stunning.
Gorgeous.

The only way I could grab this up right now would be to sell a couple of my remaining Albions, as well as my first sword from Mateusz. The first two wouldn't be much of a problem, but I don't want to give up the latter. Sigh. At least he's willing to make another one. I must have this. So much awesome. The scabbard is also a step up. I think Mateusz has turned a corner with this one.
