If it was a short blade , I'd suggest it was set up for a edge in fighting style, either reverse grip or front grip, but given the length , perhaps a draw similar to that used with the katana?

Yes, I would certainly like to have the blade facing the correct direction!

Are there any seax examples showing the edge facing downward?
