Purchased my flights last night, but planning about a three week trip to part of Europe this fall. I'm looking for any suggestions on museums for arms and armor. Since I forge, I do have a stronger interest in swords and blades than armor right now. I'm flying into Frankfurt and out of Brussels, we are getting down in Switzerland and probably France. We will be traveling in the off season, mid October to the first week of November. It's a big area, but we have some time to play with. Thanks!

Definitely Wallace collection, London. For 16th to 18th century blades, Zeughaus, Graz, is awesome. DHM in Berlin has a huge collection.

I went to the Musee de 'Armee in Paris last year. Really nice collection of arms and armor. Mostly Napoleonic era to WW2 gear but a respectable collection of medieval equipment as well.

I really want to go the Wallace Collection, but sadly won't make it to the UK on this trip.

'Respectable'? It's one of the most important in the world! There are also a couple of good collections in Switzerland, especially Zurich (Schweizerisches Landesmuseum is the most important in Switzerland, I believe), Luzern (check out Czerny's auction house if you can), and absolutely Solothurn, which is just awesome .
