BENEDICTUS sword with scabbard - type XIV
This is the sword that I called "BENEDICTUS", Oakeshott Type XIV.
My project was based on many of examples from 14th century - not particular, existing sword.
Sword has very nice handling, blade wide and stiff, the edges are sharp.
All decorations on the blade, scabards and belt are hand tooled or stamped with hand carved tools.
The golden cross on the pommel is scuttled in colored resin.
There are also latin inscriptions:
- on the pommel "Miserere Mei Deus" from psalm
- in the fuller "BENEDICTUS DEUS MEUS"

Measurements:
total lenght 850mm
blade width 67mm
grip 98mm
balance 90mm
weight 1230g

That is art. Pure and simple, art!
Great work on sword and scabbard.
Great work, great pictures.
It's always a smile. Cool !
Very elegant pommel and scabbard design.
Simply put, when I started customizing sword some 10 years ago, this is pretty much what I was aiming for - both in terms of aesthetics, research and execution.
I'm no fan of pommel inserts, but that's been picky - this is fantastic work.
Bravo!

I love it Maciej, you've really done a tremendous job! So great.
I really like the feel of this piece. Nice execution...
Very nice. In particular, I love the mild distressing and color palette that he uses. The work always has this rugged authenticity that reminds me of a well worn sidearm. The colors just seem “right” somehow
I'm with Julien on not being a fan of pommel inserts but I think in most cases its because the inserts usually seem to be from the wrong period or just gaudy. That is not case here. This is nicely done.
Oh good grief, that's lovely. One day I shall get something similar with an enameled disc insert with my personal heraldry on it. Oh yes i shall!
