It's basically a fence post wrapped with lots of burlap. The burlap does a good job of deadening the blows so I don't destroy my wooden sword.
What do you guys think?

Well it actually looks good aesthetically and well put together: Not an ugly thing at all in the room's decor .....
I don't think that you have to hit a pell as hard as you can all the time, much better to practice also control, recovery and speed. Also including practicing draw cuts.
When using it you might want to add some sand bags on the base to keep it standing for when you do want to hit it hard.
As an aside it looks like it would be good practicing empty hand punches, maybe ?
The wood looks nicely finished: Did you use any stain on the wood ? And I'm curious about what kind of wood you used as it looks like it has an attractive wood grain
You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!

It's mostly made from scraps I had laying around (making the total cost for this project about $29). The legs are made from some old 1" thick pine boards, and the post is your standard lowes fence post. I stained it with old can of stain I found in my barn, I think it was called "pecan". It's surprising steady, you could hit it as hard as you like, it doesn't tilt a bit. The boards make it bottom heavy, and their thickness creates a lot of ground contact.

I like it! I've been wanting to make something similar myself for a while now, but was thinking I would pad it with old tire treads (it would be outdoors).
I also like your sword stand. Did you make that as well?

No, I found it at a thrift store recently. It's a cane holder; handmade; very old. Makes a perfect stand for my fencing weapons.
