Hello everyone,
This is a Mammen inspiration viking axe. The original axe currently resides in the Copenhagen National Museum in Denmark. The original axe is dated to 970-971 AD.
Our war axe was forged in 4140 steel. The axe has blackened surfaces and chiselled in Urnes Style, a more modern and sophisticated style that the Mammen original, and with the additional of magic symbols of protection of the Norse mythology.
The axe head is mounted on a handle of maple Wood.

Eduardo, that is really beautiful. Great work, have you considered doing inlay with a similar design? It would be a lot of work but would really 'pop'.

Thanks Ian
This would then be an important step forward, but we are also perfecting (little by little) the viking inlay technique. I believe that a short time and we can apply these techniques successfully.

That looks really good Eduardo. I agree with Ian that inlay would just make the chisel work stand out even more. For a working ax this is perfect. Congratulations on a really spectacular piece!
