I just bought this rusty fencing foil on an auction. The middle part seems to be replaced. Could someone help me with determining its origin and time period, or if it is just some replica?

It's probably a Spanish tourist item from the mid 20th by the looks of it.
Currently working on projects ranging from Elizabethan pageants to a WW1 Tank, Victorian fairgrounds 1066 events and more. Oh and we joust loads!.. We run over 250 events for English Heritage each year plus many others for Historic Royal Palaces, Historic Scotland, the National Trust and more. The style is an Italian foil grip. The rings-and-quillons section looks like a zinc-aluminium alloy casting (probably original, rather than a replacement). That being zinc-aluminium, and the decoration on the cup, make it probably a Spanish tourist sword.

I guess this foil needs cleaning. What's more, I've never seen a fencing sword with engravings on its guard.
