Imbedding hilt detail in the thread, with adjustment to brightness and contrast for the sake of clarity. I've left the original exposure intact outside the edited box containing the sword, so anyone who wants an accurate exposure can still get that by reducing brightness/contrast in that box to match the original background.

I have been told that the conservation and examination will last at least half a year. Maybe even a year. They want to examine metallugy etc. I will keep you informed if I receive further info. The sword will be on display in the museum, so I'm going to see it for sure :p

This looks remarkably different cleaned up and (looks like) the pommel placed further down the tang. Now it looks like a more typical bastard/warsword, maybe XIIa or XVIa?
