Here are some pictures I recently took at the Military Museum (museu militar) in Lisbon, Portugal. Some of you may find this interesting....

It´s a really nice museum with a beautiful collection of historic weapons and armory. I highly recommend going there when in Lisbon. It´s not huge but definitely worth a visit.

Sorry for the bad quality I´m not a pro photographer Wink

Very interesting, thank you. The flail in the last photo is obviously a late period decorative piece.

wo, that montante with the up turned lugs gets my interest, you don't happen to have any pics of the whole piece, or some basic stats. . . reason I ask is that I nearly finished a full scale wooden model of Wallace collections A473, and might be looking for another project.

@Sa´ar Nudel
I also think that it was never used in battle. There is just too much wrong about this "weapon".

@Daniel Wallace
I think the card said that a famous person used to own the montante but I´m not sure.
Here is a fullsize picture of the whole thing:

takes for the full pic!

the sword is pretty interesting, I will be so bold as to say, that this sword in my opinion does not have its original grip. it really looks as if the guard has slipped away and is exposing part of the tang. however, it does really show how thick and hearty the cross section is for two handers from the period.
