Those are great photos, Sebastian! Is that you on the last photo? Did they allow you to wear a museum exhibit or is that a replica?

It's fate - there is always one (or more) museum closed especially when you have travelled a long way specifically to see some stuff. But you got to see a fair bit.

Replica, but in a museum. The guy curating had a good hour long talk with me. He was very animated and enthusiastic. Got a free book out of that encounter, too.

Most were the Army Museum, Warsaw (Muzeum Wojska Polskiego).
Some were from small towns (Sandomierz, and most notably Zamosc).

I recommend Zamosc SOOO much. Three buildings of weapons from 3 eras', one of which had some amazingly unique swords.

Very interesting. Many of the hussar armour sets seem to be correctly proportioned and I wouldn't be surprised if some (or many) of them were originals. The suits of "German" and other Western European armour largely seem to be ill-proportioned (the armour worn by the "Landsknechts" are obviously way too long in the torso) and in many cases the combinations are outright wrong (for instance, a great helm with 16th-century armour from the neck down). So maybe the museums have plenty of real antique Polish arms and armour (or at least very good reproductions) but have had to source rather dodgy replicas to represent Western armour?

I think that is true. Scimitars are quite popular in Poland after Poles started swapping their broadswords with captured Turkish scimitars during the Ottoman era and later designed their own swords after the Turkish ones.

Ages ago, when I was a boy,(1950's) my mom took me to Poland to see her birth-country. Yes, I liked these things even then. Unfortunately, the only place I saw knightly arms and armour was in Kracow Castle and Czestochowa monastery. All the other places were at that time, "closed for renovation." It was not so long after the war and there had been much damage, even part of Warsaw, the old town, was still in ruins; which I still remember as if it was yesterday.

Shahril, Yes. Poles in the wars won and a Turkish sabers they chose.
Sabre Karabela clothing was worn to the nobility.
The first witness to use karabela saber in Poland from 1497-1498 year.
the census expedition against the Turks and Italians.
