Sorry to have to ask but I've searched through all of the obvious threads.

In one of the many topics relating to 12th/13th century scabbards, I saw an image which showed a scabbard and a tabbed knife sheath being worn at the same time (the knife sheath was blue I think). Can I find it again? No, despite hours of searching both here and the manuscript miniatures site.
If anyone can point towards it I'd be very grateful as I think it's a unique depiction of both being worn in that period.

Thanks

aMatt

I don't understand what you mean by "tabbed" knife sheath. Something like this in ÖNB 2554 fo.37r?

Mart, yes, that's a tabbed knife sheath.
Somewhere, there is a manuscript image showing one of those being worn on the same side as a sword scabbard.
It is, as far as I can recall, the only image which shows both a sword and a knife being worn at the same time from the 12th or early 13th century.

Still not what you were looking to find, but a 13th c. bas-de-page picture of a sheath (as well as a normal reaction when a monk without braies approaches you!)

I would love to know the story behind this pretty amusing manuscript picture!

Is this it? It seems to show part of a second smaller scabbard protruding from under the belt of the figure in the blue tunic, on the same side as the sword.
