I have always wanted a sword like a lot of kids and that desire has not gone away but only grown.
I have reached a point were I am looking to get a custom made sword.
In looking online I found my way to Tinkerswords.com found a piece that was similar to what I am looking for:

'Irish' Bastardsword

Oakeshott Type: XIIa
Overall Length: 43-1/4 inches
Blade Length: 32-1/2 inches
Length of Handle: 8 inches
Bastardsword inspired by Irish swords of the 15th C.
With it's light overall weight and close COG this sword is a lively handler but still tracks in the cut and thrusts well!
Price: $1425 + shipping

This was right along the lines of what I wanted AND in my price range!!!!!
So I contacted Tinker Pearce and found out that he is semi-retired and not taking any new projects.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest someone doing similar word for comparable prices??

Yes they do. And they should be able to fit your price range, even with our weak dollar these days. You just have to be patient with custom orders...it might be 6 months, or it might be almost a year, depending how busy they are.

If it's ok to piggyback on this thread...

I have an ATrim longsword I'd like to see with a complex hilt mounted to it. Could someone point me to a cutler who mounts other makers blades, and with a solid understanding of the aesthetics of the complex guard? I've seen too many that look about 1/5 larger than they should be.

Just to add my piece of straw to the haystack - Arms and Armor. They have made a number of custom swords for me of the highest quality, and for a reasonable price (for custom work) They are easy to communicate with, and responsive to your emails

Arms and Armour, so seconding everyone's opinion!

Craig Johnson must be one of the most responsive artists/craftsmen/business owners on the planet in this field. I've had nothing but positive suggestions and feedback to my long queries from him, even as I am considering future work. He is courteous and incredibly knowledgable. I happen to have a pollaxe from Arms and Armour that is solid and well-made. In the perfect future, this would go back to him for custom work. He could put a spike or ball cap on the end, I'm sure put decorative punches on the axe head...
