A Date for your diaries 4th May @ 21:30 Handmade : Metal , on BBC4 .
A half hour "slow tv " show of myself forging a knife.
A good honest portrayal of a craftsman at work . Also handmade: Glass just before and Handmade : wood 2 days after.
I'll update with more info, there should be stuff ( interviews etc) on the BBC4 webpage soon.

Best thing on the BBC for ages I expect

Well it wasn't what I had expected but I definitely enjoyed the program.

There was no music during the program
There was no voice-over during the program
It wasn't a step by step explanation of how a knife is made although you saw all the stages.
There were no CNC machines, computers or hi-tech machines; just a craftsman using his mind, eyes and hands to create a truly awesome looking knife from scratch.

I think I now have an appreciation of what Owen means when he says on his website "Forging soul into steel"

Well done Owen and the BBC4 Channel for doing this program.

Stumbled upon the program halfway yesterday on BBC4.
Beautifully shot, in a rather contemplative way. Seeing the blade pattern slowly reveal itself through a glass jar was really something.
It'd been a while since I had seen Owen at work. Made me realize how badly I need to make some time to go to go there and get stuff done Happy

Great video Owen, and a superb knife too!
