I´m not only a big fan of swords but also knives.
This is a Bowie knife made by kiwi knifemaker Bryan W. Baker of Svord Knives.
It was originaly designed in 1863 by Gustav von Tempsky (1828 - 1868).
Von Tempsky was a German (Prussian) adventurer who travelled all around the world and reached some fame in New Zealand.

The knife is handforged out of Swedish L6 high carbon steel and pretty badass Big Grin

The pen is mightier than the sword if the sword is very short, and the pen is very sharp.

It was Maj. von Tempsky who first introduced the Bowie knife to New Zealand and no one knew that until today.
Gustavus Ferdinand von Tempsky (1828-1868), born Gustaw Ferdynand Tempski to a noble family in what is now Braniewo in Poland (some say Kaliningrad, Russia) is still a prominent figure in shaping the history of New Zealand. He was a soldier of fortune, a painter and a writer and was slain in the Taranaki Wars. After his death von Tempsky was cremated along with the bodies of his comrades by the Maoris.
