Hello. I was wondering what information I can get on Early Crusade swords, I want to know what materials were used for the grip (Leather, cloth, hemp cord, twisted metal) and what type of suspension system (sword belt) were common or even used. References to existing swords would be even better. Thank you.

I'd check out our Feature articles page, specifically the spotlight articles on the Oakeshott types. Or our Oakeshott article. Tons of good info in those articles and they'll let you see what swords were around during your era. Lots of pictures of surviving examples, too.

For the First Crusade, virtually any sword of the period of the norman conquest of England would be applicable for the Crusaders.
