Both swords came dull. The Kris one had more problems. Sheath was tight and required multiple attempts to sheath the sword. The copper fitting at the mouth of sheath could dull the edges. The hilt of the Kris one was loose, due to the gap between the tang and the slot. I had to filled in 3 wooden plates to make it tight. Both blades scored over 60 HRC and below 65 HRC. The Kris one was a pattern welded steel. The Kris one cuts better due to a wider blade profile and sharper edge angle after I sharpened it. The Kris one's guard bit into hands if I grab it close to the guard.

Overall, I like the Kris one, after I fixed all the problems. It's my student's purchase and I think he's gonna like it.

Thanks.

I'm on the look out for a decent Jian so my Shao-lin best friend can have the joy of cutting practice.
