In the extreme western regions of Pictland, it is snowing. While not known for their transatlantic crossings, their influence is still felt in the hinterlands.
This is a Pictish War Knife made by Petr Florianek. He posted some pictures on his facebook page before the sheath was made, and I committed to buying it and giving him free-rein to make the sheath exactly how he wanted it. I've had it for two months and every time I look at it, I am amazed. Antler and silver fittings and a pattern-welded blade.

Beautiful work from Petr as usual.
I like the St Ninian's chape influence in the design.

That's a knockout! Petr Florianek is always on his game. Thanks for the looks.

There is a full Gullinbursti FB photo album with more pictures. I took the ones above, but his have better vantages and some in-progress shots as well. In this post are two more by him. I suppose mine are 'upside down' by carrying method, but right-side up by blade.

Yes, nice. He said "i found main inspiration on hunterstone brooch and st. ninians isle treasure." Here is a link on the brooch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunterston_Brooch
