Are any of you aware of the existence of considerably flattened Brazil Nut style pommels on historical swords?

Flattened in which dimension? There are some Eastern European examples that look very flat when looking at the sword in profile.

I do refer to the profile of the sword. For further disambiguation, facing the edge of the sword rather than the flat. Incidentally, pictures would be most welcome from anyone who has them.

Closer to 10 b. http://www.myArmoury.com/view.html?features/pic_geibig19.jpg

A broad pommel that has a thinner cross section, rather than the fatter style of the knud.
