9th century belt...
Ha! Gotcha! Not viking :)
This is what a belt of a richer person in central europe (Great Moravian territory) may have looked like. The side strap idea comes from one grave find, however, the fittings are different. Speaking of which, they are blackened and textured iron with raised silver inlay, mounted on a cowhide that is decorated and dyed.







Really nice work, I assume those side-straps are purely decoration or do they serve some practical purpose?
