I can't get over how gorgeous a schiavona looks. A friend of mine has an original, and I have to confess I actually think about it at night. Handling it blows my mind. (This friend also has two original 17th c. rapiers... I'm so jealous!) One thing about the schiavona that my friend owns is that it simply radiates speed. The thumb ring on it makes performing molinellos feel as though the sword is doing them for you.

Must... own... one day...

Hey Schiavona fans,
Take a look at Czerny's November auction; they have several, ranging from the ugly to the sublime. There's even a French example!

Here's the address: www.czernys.com

Ciick on the photo of the catalog, and in the index click on "spada, strische, daghe".

I want one too. Odd how schiavonas can be the most beautiful swords of all, or can be really ugly, botched looking things

That's it. I don't know how, but I'm going to get myself an original sword. Looking through those catalogs, and having looked through many others, I now know that I NEED an original. I don't know what type exactly, and I certainly don't know where I'll get the money (is knocking of banks really as easy as it looks in the movies?), but I'm going to do it.

Look very nice for originals.

Great pics, thanks for posting them!

I am certainly among the Schiavona fans, a Schiavona was the very 1st replica sword I ever purchased, many, many years ago. I hope to add some better quality ones to my collection in the future, these photos make me yearn for a custom hilt like the 2nd (or 3rd) photo with a backsword blade... someday!

Thanks again.
