Accuracy of knight in Albion Europe illustration
How accurate a illustration is this knight in terms of the equipment?

Also, what is the reddish colored item he is wearing over his chest. Would that be considered a coat of plates maybe?

Yes, that is a coat of plates, but its textile hangs too low below his waist I would say. But early CoP's might have looked that way, I'm not sure. Except that, it looks quite accurate.
CoP needs to come lower to protect the lower abdomen imho. Nice fluidiity and animation in the artwork though.
Based on the statue of St. Maurice the Egyptian at Magdeburg Cathedral (c.1250) with the late 13th century Schlossberg bei Dargen helm.
