Dear forumites,
If you happen to be in the vicinity of Ljubljana, Slovenia and have nothing booked for Tuesday evening (26th of November), I shall be holding a presentation at 17:00 at the National Museum of Slovenia on the topic of the craft of the sword smith and the design of the medieval sword.

Just back from the lecture in National Museum of Slovenia in Ljubljana. I had to travel to Ljubljana, but luckily it only takes me half an hour. 
This has been a good year for medieval militaria in Slovenia - Exhibition "Vitez, dama in zmaj" (Knight, Lady and the Dragon) have given us not only the opportunity to see all those items from our museums and from abroad, but also all the lectures - Alan Williams on metallurgy of the armour and swords, Daniel Jaquet on medieval armour and it's impact on movement and now this!
I suppose you have all seen the lectures on Arctic Fire 2012 by Peter? I imagined it would be something like that, only shortened. Luckily I was wrong, it was just as long and just as extensive, and he has prepared many many new examples. I was specially impressed by the quick survey of the swords from arsenal at Alexandria - out of I think 14 swords all but two fit in one of the two design outlines, even if their lengths vary by quite a lot.
Other than that, there's very little I can add - you had to be there to be there.  I don't think the event was filmed. I guess I must apologize to Peter again for asking all those questions in the end and extending an already long lecture - some people haven't planned such a long event and had to leave prematurely.
