Just a little heads up for our UK members... The British Museum is going to be having an exhibition on the vikings with weapons on loan from some European museums. I was just in London visiting the museum and saw the banner. I thought I got very lucky but the exhibition isn't until early next year. Hopefully, some of you who live there can visit and either take pictures or tell us about it.

A friend of mine went to the exhibition a few months ago in Copenhagen (it's the same one) and raved about it. After London it goes on to Berlin, I believe, which will likely be the end of 2014. But wherever you find it it is well worth a visit.

And i get to play with it and do some of the interpretation at the events and openings, plus a Viking sleepover hopefully.
Hurrah!
The Gjermundbu helm will come in handy and I MUST book myself onto one of Owens courses to get a nice Dane axe.

I visited that exhibition in Copenhagen last Sunday. It was a pleasant surprise to see some of the on loan items, such as Lewis chessmen, gilded weathervane (I think Oseberg?) and other stuff I have not seen IRL. I recommend visiting if you have the opportunity.

I'm seeing it in Denmark in a couple of weeks time. I don't suppose they are allowing photography in the exhibition?

I Really hope they did, or I made a whoopsie
Yes I had my camera and took loads of shots, without being stopped, and I saw no signs about it either.
Welcome to this part of the world again, I guess you are already familiar with the stuff, but the early Iron Age stuff on display is really awesome. I like it even better than the Viking era stuff. And don't get me started on Neolithic pottery
