Hi everyone - im new here

I need help finding historical references to a type of sugarloaf helmet ive been seeing different places.

Its especially the eye slids that is causing me trouble. I think they look really cool, but i just cant find any information that confirms the historical use this type, or where its from.

I hope you can help me
Best regards

Historical? It dates from the mid 1970s from the SCA's Sir Polidor Haraldsson's (Brian D. Flax) Arms and Armour Handbook. Mr. Flax might have based it on a kit purchased from one "Foscahd". These eye slots are listed as "Faceplate #2": "Faceplate #1" having triangular eye slots. There were quite a few of these floating around in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Medieval "sugarloafs" never had a spangenhelm construction, and the occularia were never cut in such a fashion.

Sugarloaf is a modern term as well. They had bascinets and helms with some kettle helmets for good measure during this period largely.

That is sort of a modern take on a few different helmets.
