Came across this new series, seems to be a medieval/knightly series so some of you here might be interested. Who knows, it could be good.
First episode is today at 8:00pm on Starz

Nice sword!

Oh sweet, seems to be a Lancaster vs York story. I love War of the Roses.

I took a look at the first episode, available on the internet. It isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I still can't recommend it.
You will need a subscription to STARZ to go beyond that episode.
Elizabeth Woodville is the White Queen. The Grey Mare would be a better title. FWIW, I've always had much distaste for the Woodvilles.

It's awful.
The acting is awful.
The clothes are awful
The sets are awful
The armour is awful
Awful, awful, awful.
But then the books upon which is it based aren't to be recommended either. Historical chick-lit.

Watched it last night. While it was entertaining, I did not see much to recommend it to anyone who cares about authenticity. Will watch one more episode before I pass final judgment but it was not off to a good start.

I wasn't thrilled either. I'll watch a couple more episodes when they come out and maybe it starts to pick up.
But for an opener it wasn't all that great.

Unfortunately, while numerous advertisements on television for shows/series/specials/etc.... that catch my eye due to period content never seem to pan out to have much value. I've stopped paying attention.

You guys...
1 - Its a "shipper" - what do you expect from it?
2 - Its television - what do you expect from it? Seriously?
3 - Its clearly influenced by Ricardian historical spin. He comes off as fairly likable. If nothing else, this is amusing. Being an insomniac, it is a means to pass the time. I liked the Hollow Crown mini series much better, though.

I'll be the first to admit most television is unworthy of watching, but every once in awhile something good does come on. Can't blame a man for hoping something is good especially when it's more or less aligned with their hobby.
Game of thrones was pretty good I thought. The books were better but the T.V series is pretty good too.

Watched the first episode of the The White Queen online just to see if it had any potential. It's bad, really bad. It's just disposable, trashy, bodice-ripping melodrama attempting to masquerade itself as historical fiction.
- The script was terrible. The dialog and behavior of the characters was inconsistent with English nobles in the fifteenth century.
- The armour was awful, and the costuming was just low-budget, medieval-esque, certainly not fifteenth century.
- Sets weren't good either, but they might be marginally more believable than the costuming.
Oh, and my wife loved it.... < groan >
