Here´s another new piece from my smithy – Schiavona.
To be honest, this type of sword was never „close to my heart“.
But – some time ago I got a hands-on-opportunity to take measurements of variety of originals and I just couldn´t resist, so I put a piece of iron into the fire and forged my first Schiavona. And it completely changed my attitude towards this beauty
Proportions:
Length: overall – 97 cm, blade – 82 cm, width of blade by the hilt: 3.6 cm, weight: 1.26 kg, P.o.B.: 13 cm.
What surprised me is how thumb ring is locked between blade and guard.
We accept orders from today!
First pictures are original, followed by my replica:

Beautiful! The sword glows! It has the magic and charm of a truly handforged, hand made piece that milled and investment cast fittings and blades sorely lack! A great triumph!

Shiny. I think it might look even more attractive if you aged/antiqued the external surfaces a bit to match the uneven patina at some spots on the inside of the basket.

I like it. Perhaps the main crossbar inside the basket is a bit wide and "square-ish" side though?

Thank you guys for all your comments!
I forgot to mention that blade is hand-forged from spring steel, hardened upto 52 HRc.
Aged/antique look surely is a good idea, but I´m not a fan of it myself, so I don´t do it
Crossbar (guard) inside is the same as on original Schiavona. I guess each original sword was forged differently, that´s what I like about swords in general - that variety.

Hi Kjell - here´s photo of the original, where you can see crossguard a little bit better:

Probably just a combination of photo angles and the "crisper" look of the new making it seem blockier at first then.
