Hello Gentlemen!
I just finished this seax
an interpretation of 9th century weapon, from England.
Some of those saxes were well known broken backs, but some have more round lines, like a hump.
the blade is welded from 5 bars
edge is HC steel, then there is old bar from 16 century, then one twisted and one straight 9 layers bars, and then wrought iron again
the handle is bog oak
the fittings are deeply engraved in trewhiddle style in silver

Gorgeous! How big is this seax? Is it available or was this a commission? Is the scabbard finished? What will the suspension be?

the piece is 44 cm overall
its neither commission, not for sale... :-O
i made it and before finishing it found a lord, to whom it spoke

The sword was found in Powys, Wales, and is dated to the 9th century. It is now in the British Museum, you can see their page for it here.
The seax looks great, I am really looking forward to mine.

As always Petr, very nice indeed!
Not a huge fan of Broken backs, so this one ticks all the right boxes!
I can't wait to see Dieters new one.
