My searches to find information on messer dimensions has failed. Any help?

Wondering about typical blade length, thickness, width, etc., ideally based upon preserved examples, archeological record, period documents, etc.

From what I've seen in replicas I'm imagining a messer would be something about 2' long, 3" wide at the guard,
and blade thickness 3/16" to 1/4" at the guard. What do you think?

I think that the problem here is that there were no standard or typical dimensions for weapons like messers or bauernwers . They could be anywhere from the size of a large butcher knife to sword length. A kreggsmesser could have a three foot blade, or longer, and a two handed handle. Width would have varied too but I think that anything much over 2" would have been a bit wide and I would think that thickness would probably be less than 1/4", though a shorter blade could probably get by with more thickness and not suffer from poor balance.
