I was wondering: Which swords in the Albion Mark Ancient line will receive the Next Generation retooling?
The Albion site mentions that several models throughout the timeline will become Next Generation models. I also know that Peter mentioned some Museum Line/Next Gen improvements for Celtic swords (and I can scarcely wait for those, let me tell you!) 
Will the Roman swords become Next Generation models? How about a Next Generation Xiphos? The bronzes?

Hi Nate!
And thanks for the package with information on La Tène scabbards. It is waiting to be picked up at the post office as I write this. I am eager to see this.
As to earlier types of swords, well you know this is something I have a strong interest in. For now there is no schedule when and which swords are to be included in the series of the "New Generation".
Presently we are concentrating on the classic medieval and viking types. That is quite enough to keep everyone fully occupied. I have some ideas and plans but we will yet see when these ancient blades are to be put into production.
Perhaps bronze blades are first in prder, but there are perfomance and production issues to solve with these. I do not want Albion to produce elaborate letter openers, but functional sharp blades that will be as close as possible to the originals when it comes to performance, handling and looks.
The same goes with the celtic sword.
When I am ready to design a La Tène blade and there is time in the Albion prioduction schedule it will be a completely new peice, rather than an upgrade of the present sword.
So, I cannot reveal any solid time lines or plans when new models are to introduced, sorry. The possibilities are numerous though: many early iron age desgns merit closer attention.

This is my understanding of the situation from conversations on the Netsword website:
--Nothing is getting redesigned or discontinued per se. The current "Hand-Made Medieval" line will still be made, but will only be sold through third-party distributors.
--The "Next-Generation" line is a completely new line of swords which are the outcome of collaboration with Mr. Peter Johnsson. This line will take the place of the first generation "Hand-Made Medieval" line on Albion's website, but again, the "first-generation" line will continue to be made and sold through third-party distributors.
--There is a list of currently-planned "Next-Generation" swords on the website. All of them are Medieval-European, no ancient Greek or Migration. Of course Albion might redesign their pre-Medieval product line sometime in the future, but they are concentrating on their next-Generation Medieval line right now.
I might add that I have placed an order for their "Next-Gen" Gaddjhalt, so I am particularly impressed with the work they have done on that line.

Well, this sounds like good news even if the date is a bit distant yet. I am certainly pleased to hear of a Peter Johnsson total redesign of the Ancient blades. To say I am looking forward to these would be a vast understatement.
Peter, glad that the packet arrived safely, I hope it aids in your research, or at the very least provides something fun to leaf through.
