Hello!
I made this huge seax recently.
the blade is welded from 3 rods, spine is Wrought, in the center there is 9 layer twisted rod, and edge is HC steel with residual sides from wrought (leftover rod)
the handle is antler, boxwood and silver, leather sheath, all carved or tooled in Trewhiddle style
OAL is 38 cm (15,5")
Its available for 470 Euro or 590 USD

Very attractive seax.
When would you date this example.
I ask as I didn't know the classic broken-back shape was being used during the 8-10 th. c. when such a composite construction (using pattern-welding) would have been more likely.
How thick is the spine?
Again, a very nice piece

Hello! around 900 from patternwelding and trewhiddle style, there are saxes of this type with inlayed trewhiddle decoration and also patternwelded ones
the spine is around 7 mm, i have to meassure it more closely when i am in shop

Hello everyone,
I ended up picking up this little guy and I just wanted to let folks know how pleased I am with this seax. It's a beautiful piece and at a great price for the work involved.
Petr was a great fellow to work with and all communication was prompt and the whole process was pleasant.
I will do a short write-up when I have the time.
