16th Century Half Metal Hilts?
Anybody have more pics of 16th century swords where the hilt "grows/flows" directly into the pommel. I've only seen this on the attached sword (see the pic) but Vladimir Cervenka has a couple up on his website. Unfortunately his are reproductions and he doesn't have any information on the originals so I can't be sure about the historical accuracy of his reproduction.

Any information on these style of swords would be fantastic.
There's this one from Ireland

Modern repro of that sword is by Vince Evans and is referred to as the Monasterevin sword.

I love the Monasterevin sword but below is more what I had in mind.

These are taken from Cervenka's website and are reproductions. Does anyone have any images of similar swords or the originals?
Many katzblager also have this type of hilt construction... Might have been a early 16th century type of fad that was going arround as it can be seen in several different types of weapons.

If you'd come to me to Baltimore last month, you would have gotten to play with this 15th century beauty, once owned by Oakeshott. :-p
