Pommel Types as defined by Ewart Oakeshott
I'm not on the list.....and crying in my Guiness.

Murphy
No beautiful Migration period examples there......so none of the above.
I'm also not in the poll, I'm an Irish ring pommel.
I'm sooo in the poll, brazil nuuut! The only brazil nut at the moment obviously...
oops I meant type V :-) clicked on W by accident

of the above anyway...
I'm with McCraken and Curtin, Irish Ring.

Yeah, Brazil nut of the " D " shaped kind mostly because it's the pommel on my Ravenwolf sword and I drew it exactly like I like it.

Obviously the pommel has to look good and be historically correct with the rest of the sword, so I also like many other types of pommels in the context of other swords, but I chose the Brazil Nut also taken in isolation as a sculptural shape.

Oh, and I also appreciate the handshake grip of earlier one handers and Viking swords.
I did not expect these answers to the question, "What pommel type best represents your body type?". Weird.
I'm none of the above either.

I could never be an Oakeshott, I'm a Petersen!

Probably because me and most others read the question too fast and ended up answering as if the question was more
" Which is your favorite pommel type ". ;)

Body type ...... same answer for me as I'm sort of chunky and bulgy like a Brazil Nut. :D
Type V before Easter ... type D after Easter ... type O while striking a pose when no-one's looking. ;)

I also thought it said what is your favorite pommel type, it is weird how easily I misread the question.

What? Can't a round, hollow guy get a break? I'm wheely surprised by that!

;)

Murphy
OOOOOPS: Just noticed that this was in the TESTING ZONE Forum, so that could also be a reason for Nathan being surprised by any answers/posts. ;)
