I was visiting a few museums over the last week, and one item caught my eye, and got me thinking, as it was rather puzzling.

Medieval sword, most likely mid-15th C, maybe early 15th, almost certainly a single-hander, though it might have just about been a hand and a half at a squeeze (no pommel on it any longer to guess the hilt shape better), with a relatively narrow blade, about 4cm at the base, tapering to a narrow point. only about 1cm at the tip.
Clearly a hexagonal cross-section throughout, very flat with little reinforcement in the tip, and no fuller(s), and no ricasso.

with a ricasso and fuller, it probably would fall under XVIa, I'd guess, but without? hrm. odd.
that's left me trying to decide what that sort of blade type it would be considered.


any thoughts as to what that sort of blade would be considered? or is it a form that's falling outside oakeshot's classifications?

Any info about museum etc. then?
