I decide to buy a Hanwei Tinker Longsword blade and to get custom made fittings for it. I was thinking either something like Black Prince style or Brescia style. What would you people suggest? I would like fittings to be appropriate to a period from late 14th to early 15th century. Is Brescia style to late for that? Any other ideas are welcome.

Octagonal pommels like that of the Brescia sword seem to have been quite popular ca. 1400-1450, so that's probably a good choice.

Id go with something like this. The other styles are already out there so why go all out on something that is available. I havent seen too many like the one linked above.

I like the pommel but I can't say the same for crossguard... Maybe with a less exaggerated shape... I like the fact that it's bronze...

Luka did you ever start work on your tinker long sword if so what did you come up with,I'm working on a long sword myself so I'd like to see your progress for ideas.

Well, I ended up buying the complete sword because it was on a huge discount. Than I used it as is, but the threading on the tang got damaged somehow and the nut couldn't be tightened so I got just the new pommel and got it peened at the end of the tang. Here are the pictures of the new pommel:

Sorry, I forgot to mention, it's made by Alojz Krišto, as all my custom fittings are. Wink
