I've run across illustrations on a few boards lately that seem similar to those from Osprey books, but they're not from any Osprey title I'm aware of. I haven't had any luck tracking down where they're from, which is a bummer because some of them look interesting.

This is one:

I'm guessing it involves the Byzantine wars against the Slavs or Rus.

This one shows armored cavalry in ancient Korea.

Again, no idea what it's from. Possibly these aren't published in English?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Maybe you're thinking of Montvert Publications? They are who published that Sui vs. Korean painting in Ranitsch ill. McBride (1995). I have a couple dozen of their titles, and one advantage they have over the Ospreys is better textual annotation.

Might also be Concord Publications. They published a series of hobby-type books called the Fighting Men series, with illustrations by folks like Angus McBride and others who've also done Osprey titles. These are pretty basic little books, kind of but not exactly like Osprey books.

Thank you! I'll check them out as soon as I can. They don't seem to be widely available, though.
