Does anyone have any experience Between these two brands of medieval shields?
How are they? How do they compare? Are they functional? Handle well? solidly constructed? How is the strapping?
I haven't tested them, but looking at the photos I'd say the strapping on the Medieval Heater Shield - 801204 looks fine but the one on the other looks a bit odd. Perhaps it's meant for riding and not foot combat and is only meant to strap loosely to the arm and with no controlling loops through the palm of the hand. Regardless, both likley need strap buckles for tightening properly to the arm for full control of the shield.
Otherwise, the shields themselves look just fine for plain war shields. They would look good with a bit of heraldic painting of course."The Dwarf sees farther than the Giant when he has the giant's shoulder to mount on" -Coleridge
I haven't seen the Depeeka models in person. But I have one of the Windlass ones, and the strapping is solid. The only thing that struck me odd with mine (it's a different model than the one you pointed out) was that the canvas surface was spongy to the touch. It's as if they put a thin layer of padding between the wood and the canvas covering.-Ed T. Toton III
