I'm looking for books regarding the history, development, and use of 16th century artillery.

I'd be very grateful if you guys could give me some recommendations.

the endlessly delayed new book on Mary Rose ("Weapons of Warre") apparently deals extensively with the ship's guns.

Bert S. Hall, Weapons and Warfare in Renaissance Europe is the standard English book on the development of gunpowder technology.

Colin Martin and Geoffrey Parker, The Spanish Armada (1999) is an excellent book on naval artillery in 1588 among other topics.

btw, gunpowder is just ONE of its sections, it has about 6 chapters
1 the new fury (the rise of gunpowder and fortifications)
2 the new legions (i.e pike and shot warfare)
3 the new ceasers, (changes in cavalry and leadership roles)
4 cross vs crescent, (conflicts between mostly ottoman muslimsand christians)
5 duelling kings (conflicts and campaigns between the monarchs of europe (such as the italian wars)
6 faith verses faith (catholics against protestants)
