I've just returned from the post office with several packages that were to go to Canadian clients. According to my post master due to a Canadian postal strike no US postal service packages are being accepted by into Canada due to the strike. I will be checing back with the post office to see when/if packages will be accepted.

Our Parliament is passing back to work legislation and I expect that the mail should be running normally in a week or so, don't know how quickly USPS will be accepting packages destined for Canada: My guess would be early next week.

If I have any news about this I'll post again with another update:

Packages that where already in the pipeline from the U.S.A. may already have crossed the border and I expect that the arrivals may be slowed a bit by an accumulation of backlog.

We where having rotating strikes in the last couple of weeks that didn't do much more than add a day or two to shipping times.

Update: The bill is currently still being debated as the Official Opposition is in " Filibuster " mode and delaying the eventual passage of the Return to Work bill.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbi...ebate.html

My best guess is that this won't be passed before Monday and might drag on to mid week but will eventually pass as the Government has the Majority in the House of Commons.

The Government might be able to impose closure on the bill forcing an immediate vote but decided for some reason to let the debate take place.

This is all very frustrating to many small businesses that are losing money they can't afford to lose in this economy and why the Government wants to legislate this strike to be over.

Latest update: The vote passed and mail delivery should be back to normal in a few days.

Don't know when USPS will be accepting mail destined for Canada but I expect as soon as the mail starts to be delivered again In Canada. ( I assume the same thing for the British Royal Mail or other countries that suspended accepting mail to Canada, check with your local post offices early next week ).
