Happy birthday! Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that people who have the most live the longest!

I'm a day late, but I hope yesterday was a good day. Happy birthday.

Better late than never they say, so happy birthday!
(Though I think you misunderstood something... traditionally the presents are given to the birthday boy, not somebody else. )

Halters for the silly neck that cannot keep a crown.
As my loss is grievous, so my hope is small.

Well, I'm really late but "Happy Birthday Nathan!"

Yeah, I'm late too, my wedding seems to have me distracted the last few weeks from this site
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag, Nathan! (Happy birthday... and so on )

Well it came and past, and I missed it. Belated happy birthday Nathan. Hope you had a good day, did you happen to get any sharp and pointy pressies?

I was talking to somebody about this contest and was told that Hobbits give presents to others on their birthday. I'm not a hobbit, though. |
IIRC, one of your past avatars kind of looked rangerish, so mebbe Tolkien tradition not so far off.
An old bit of prose I penned for the June 2002 season (did we get older or what?). More than a card's worth but kind of seasonal.
Midsummers Eve, a quaint tradition
A night that often gets no recognition
Up north, the sun stays up quite a while
Newlyweds and the flowers do smile
How could this be? Midsummer in June?
The snow's barely said adieu to the moon
Summer solstice comes this Friday they say
How then could Monday be midsummers day?
A curious quandry I face with this riddle
How is the start of a season the middle?
Too many seasons we've sought to enjoy
Two seasons only did nature employ
One for nesting and testing our mirth
The other to plant and harvest the earth
It seems that is why midsummer is now
Harness the horses but not for the plow
Now is the time to gather and build
for what autumns harvest still yet
has to yield.
A social time also, well suited to gather
Even to sit and do naught if you'd rather
I ramble on here with too many stanzas
time to go and enjoy the hydrangeas
~~~~~~~~~~
Many Happy Returns
