Hi

Does anyone have any photos of original damascened sword hilts on western swords. I know that it has been used in Japan on katana's and stuff, but I was interested in european swords. Rapiers particularly.

Could you be a bit more specific about the term "damascened"? Do you mean inlayed, pattern welded or something else?

I mean damascene, I don't know of another name for it... it looks black and gold. I don't make metal stuff so I don't know how it's done.
