Question about visored bascinet
Hi.
I'm going to change my harness by swapping from a great helm to a visored bascinet, just to not have a too outdated helmet for my (forming) harness.
Have you aver seen something similar (and someone coul translate me this page please)?

Thanks in advance

Augusto

Edit: would it be historically correct to put simple spaulders with this arm harness?

Hi Augusto, I could be wrong here so anyone feel free to correct me, but to me that helm looks like what is called a sugarloaf, and they were popular in the early 14th century.
To me it doesen't seems a sugarloaf great helm. Tha shape is extremely similar to a bascinet's one. As you can see the helmet is all rounded and it doesen't have plain sides like a great helmed does and isn't build up with riveted plte, but from a single one.
Eyeslits look too big to me, it could be dangerous to wear that helmet in combat. The openings should be made narrow, not that wide. Like this

that is a pretty helmet! and the price looks more than fair. yes these eye-holes are much better
If you can provide four pieces of information about the armour/presentation your trying to create you will greatly help people provide you with opinion and information.
When, Where, Who & What ?

When: A 10 to 20 year span is usually good enough.
Where: What country are you trying recreate?
Who: What is the social status of the person you are presenting?
What: What are you going to use the armour for? Example great helms where used in the joust through out the 14C but they seem to have fallen out of favor in war.
Oh sorry, my fault.
North of Italy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia. 1340-1350. Man At Arms.
Edit: My current kit
