Lately, I have been toying with the idea of trying to make a replica of a Scandinavian Snaplock from the 16th or 17th century, but there is very little information about them in English, particularly the internal workings. Robert Held has a diagram of on of the internal-mainspring type, and I also have an entry from what I believe is Nonte's Encylopedia of Firearms, which describes the internal workings of a couple different types. In addition, I have a couple low-quality scans from Svenska Gevaers Smeder, and a bunch of pictures taken from the internet - Herman Historica, Christies, some stuff off of various gun boards.
SInce there are a number of folks here from various Scandinavian countries, I thought I'd ask if anybody has some pictures of the insides of these locks, particularly those with external mainsprings. Thanks.

Hi,
You might find some in the printed catalogue for the rifle shoppe. They have a heap of photos of internal workings of their products which include snaplocks.

Thanks, Elling. Those are very helpful. There is a lot of variation in those guns, I must say.
Jonathan, thanks for the suggestion.
