Crown Maker
Hi All

Does anyone know who can make a replica crown in metal - it would be a copy of the Margaret I corwon of Denmark or similar? Ideally made from metal (brass/bronze)?

Maybe contacting someone working for the Royal family would know who makes crowns for them although without all the jewels and the precious stones ?

Tower of London curators might also have an idea where to have these made as they may have had copies made for some displays when the originals are looked up in a heavy and thick walled safe ? ( Or other museums with " Royal " collections ? )

Well, to make a casting someone would have to supply/make a wax model and it would probably need file work to clean up and add details ?

My best guess is that it would be expensive even in cast bronze but someone very very good at carving could make one out of wood and it could be gilded with paint or gold leaf ?

Movie prop makers another possible source of advice on finding a maker or capable of making it themselves: How important is the material used to you and would it just looking like the real thing be sufficient for your needs even if done in cast plastic or something else ?

Anyway, maybe of limited use to you but just ideas where/who to look for answer. ;)
If you try a Google search you should turn up several talented people capable of retreating it, however it will not be cheap
Many thanks for the replies! I really want a metal one like in the picture but had no real joy on google, been trying for months now! The one in the picture just seems to be cast or moulded and does not have inlaid stones etc plus its Danish so thought this would be a good one to replicate, does nayone have any other pictures of it?

Cheers Mike

That should get you started.
Try contacting the below site...

He does nice metal work at reasonable prices.I don't see crowns listed but he can probably make it.
Mike, with all imaginable respect, your Danish bride-to-be is sufficient beautiful and ravishing without the crown. :D It is unwise to gilt a lily!
If you were in Italy, I would recommend to speak with a priest... In every big city there are some specialized in chalices and similar who can make also a crown like that.
Maybe you should try this firm- http://www.seifert.dk/
They do all medals for the military and distinctions for the royal orders in Denmark and have done so for many years. But, it could end up costing you a lot of money. But it would be my best bet.

Cheers
Gabriele, why didn't I think of that.
Mike, if there's a large Orthodox Christian community near you, check with them. They use crown's in all their wedding ceremonies.
Only the Greeks use metallic crowns in the Wedding Service. The Russians use floral wreaths. If you are interested in the metallic crowns, Google for an Orthodox Church supply firm. The crowns are a bit more Byzantine that you might prefer but certainly are metallic...usually brass that has been plated.
Some brilliant answers! I cannot thank you enough and all the PM's, I hope to get at least one or two good leads from all of this! This is such a friendly forum, compared to some of the WW2 ones who all seem to be out for themselves!!!

Try looking for some of the SCA suppliers.
I think that some of them wear crowns as part of their game.
Crown
Here is a bronze pair that a friend of mine has designed.
Designed to match their clothes at the wedding, looks nice, and can be folded together...
