Valiant Armoury is proud to announce another addition to our sword line up.

We have been developing this sword for awhile and it will finally become available this March.

In order to launch this new sword, we have decided to have a "Name that Sword Contest"
We will be accepting name suggestions at the email address
contest@valiant-armoury.com from now until March 14th, 2011

The Sword is shown without leather on the Handle or Scabbard.
This is just a Sneak Peek

The Winner will receive a free Falchion if their entry is chosen and is the first to make that suggestion. Email entries will be logged by our email server when received and the date stamp on the email shall be considered the official entry time. In case the winner is not at least 18 years old, a parent or guardian will be required act as surrogate to the winner and to take possession of the sword. It is the winners responsibility to abide by all laws concerning sword in his or her state/country. Winner is responsible for all shipping and insurance cost.

In addition we will be asking for suggestions regarding the color scheme for the leather. There is no prize for this part, we just want to hear from our customers on this.

Thanks,

Sonny

Very cool. What are the specs on it? Been waiting for a good falchion for a long time. I think ox-blood leather would look great on it.

Pretty darn nifty for just a sneak peek!

Looks nice.

I personally would like to see a deep antiqued brown with maybe tarnished or antiqued fittings.

Is there a limit on how many names we can suggest? And would you prefer those names in a single email, or lumped together in one?

Any number of suggestions in one email.
If you think of another later just send another email.

The bottom line is the name.

We are at over 200 entries so far and there seems to be a pattern developing. I am thinking of posting the suggested names on the thread to give an idea as to what has been offered up so far. What do you guys think?
I do have a few favorites so far. You guys are on top of this naming sword thing.

Thanks
Sonny

I think posting the names which have already been suggested would be nice. Prevents overlap.

If I was a maker, I'd not do that. Suggestions become intellectual property of the maker. Why give them away to the public or the competition? Happy

Of course, for the public, it's all good. The more we get to see, the better.

I agree with Nathan but for a different reason (although I agree with his rationale as well).

If everyone is sending in the same name, it might be another good way to tell if its a potential good one or not. People will submit different names just to be different. While that might give more options, it might split whatever vote you were going to do further.

Furthermore you'll always get people second guessing you "why didn't you pick X name". This way there's less of that as well. And you can use the other names still for later or falchion variants you might make in the custom shop

Sound advice Nathan. I will think on it today before I decide.

Sonny,

Thank you for the sneak peak and the contest! I've sent you an email with my idea.

I will post the winning name later today or in the morning. I want to go through all of the emails to make certain that I have determined which entry was first to suggest the winning name.
I will also post photos of the completed scabbard.

Okay so here is the finished Falchion.
Yes it has a name. I am waiting to confirm some info from the winner before I announce it. So far I have been unable to get a hold of the person who suggested the name but I knew that many of you wanted to see the finished product so I decided to post the pictures now and release the name later.

We decided to go with Black scabbard with Oxblood Grip, Belt and Straps. On this one we added a metal locket that we will offer replacing the standard design with your choice are artwork. (COA, Crest, etc...)
Please give your comments. We love to hear from you.

Sonny

I really like the mix of styles for the suspension system and the colors, the black and oxblood complement each other rather well. Btw, are you having a hard time getting into contact with me? You can respond via pm. Wink

I always get excited when I see new stuff from Valiant Armory. Kudos to you for doing a great job again.

I really like the metal locket. Very nice touch. I think that sets this neatly apart from most of the other falchions out there.

Way to go =)

Ohh, that's a thing of beauty. I love the details on the scabbard. I guess I didn't win though, since I'm probably the easiest person in the world to contact.
