Hi all. Considering getting a custom Viking sword off the ground, but I am looking for a style to go with. Right now I am considering this one, http://www.armart.antiquanova.com/Veligradsword.htm , I find this to be the best looking viking sword out there right now. I just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions of viking designs. The only kind I don't really like are the ones with overly lavish pommels like the Del Tin Hugin and Mugin sword (I've seen worse, but not my cup o' tea. Frankly, at the right price I would still want to own one).
How can there be a perfect sword when PEOPLE come in all shapes and sizes too?

Wow, almost more inlay than pommel
A bit too overdone. The Veligrad has designs, but it didn't try to cover the entire pommel.

I have taken a liking to the Vikings done by Rob at CastleKeep. I like the look of red bronze contrasted with bone grips...

Rhaegar fought honorably.
And Rhaegar died."

I like the look of Patrick Bartá's A12 Viking sword:
and of course my Clontarf

Here is a period original that inspires me...
ks
Two swords
Lit in Eden’s flame
One of iron and one of ink
To place within a bloody hand
One of God or one of man
Our souls to one of
Two eternities

Overdone inlays on a Viking sword?
Pish posh! Cover that iron to protect it from salty sea air I say.
I tend to prefer the Petersen types A, H, K, R, and S.
