Just wondering if anyone knows if Del Tin is still making their swords with those extremely soft welded on tangs.
I've been considering buying another Del Tin, & the only thing holding me back is my past experience with their tangs.
It's been at least 10 years since my last Del Tin & I was wondering if anything had changed.
Any up to date information would be very helpful.

Hello and welcome to myArmoury.  From what I understand, not all of their swords use the welded-on the tang. That's not new.
Since it varies model by model, it might be a good idea to email Fulvio Del Tin directly. You can also PM him, as he's a member here.

I would echo Chad's recommendation. I have asked Fulvio questions as well, and he has been responsive in the past. Also, I use an Albion customized 5140 for training and have nothing but good things to say about that model. It's a sturdy sword and has mixed it up very well with other weapons.

My 2142 and 2130 are VERY durable swords and have no welded on parts...

I bought a 5152 about 2 years ago and dis-assembled it. It has a welded on tang, with the weld about 2/3rd's of the way up towards the pommel. I believe I showed a picture of it here at mA. It is a very solid weld, I would not call it "soft", I detect no abnormal vibration at that spot and for the most part I am not worried about it. But the quality of welds can vary. TR

I just wanted to give a very late thank you to all who gave such good suggestions.
Between work (dealing with increased business during the World Equestrian Games) & being sick as a dog, I hadn't gotten around to replying.
