Stage Combat Yataghan.
I thought I would share this stage combat Yataghan. I had never heard of a stage combat or live steel yataghan that could be fought with. This sword is made to be used and abused everyday. We plan on making a full custom version from our wootz soon, but it is just too hot out to turn the welding forge on right now.

Pictured here next to a one off stage combat falchion.

For more pictures please see our website http://baltimoreknife.com/mideastern.htm

Blade length from shoulder to tip: 28"
Blade was forged to shape
Fullers were added by hand
I didnt get a wieght but it is around 2 lbs
All steel fittings
leather wrap over leather core handle.

I cant wait to make a sharp version and test cut with it.

Comments always welcome and thanks for looking!
turk sword
oooooo :D I like that a lot. Especially the detail by the guard
Love the blade shape on that! Nice work!
I realy admire the work - just love the falchion!
Alas, the hilt of that yataghan is wrong, it doesn't look right even from afar. True yataghan (contrary to yataghan-bladed hunting swords) never ever had a pommel, nor a wrapped grip.

True. This is made for steel on steel use daily. That is why we did our standard stage leather wrap. I was going to split the ball pommel in half to give the ear look, but there wasn't enough time.

Like I said before, all this sword did was make me want to make a real one. Soon!

I also love these large falchion blades. We are mounting two for Age of Chivalry as Messers as we speak. I will be sure to share those as soon as they get finished.
I suppose this kind of grip will last longer on stage fight, than true historical grip. An "eared" end will give the correct look.
Would like to see your messer version when possible, thanks for sharing. I may drop a line via email or PM soon, regarding that falchion/messer :) .
flawless
Outstanding !!!! Matt The falchion looks brutal ,and i like the dubble fullers as well
As for the leather wrap iv been fighting with BKS hand in halfs for about 8 years now sparring and full speed stage combat, the wrap has Never been a problem infact it seems to fit most, if not all hand sizes :D Sa'ar what makes BKS swords unique is we fight with them at full speed every weekend except for a miner scratch here and there, they perform flawlessly , and if u ever heard bks against bks the sing as well
Well the last one sold right away and our dealer asked for another one ASAP so I had to put my plans on doing a full blown version on hold yet again and get another one like last time out the door.

Kerry suprised me with 2 blades this time. A shorter dagger like version and a 32" hand and a half version. I also got to try a new template for the overlay part of the hilt. I like both for different reasons. Once agian I cant wait to make a full blown version.

Here is the longer version.

Both made for heav stage combat use. For more info and pictures see our site here : http://baltimoreknife.com/mideastern.htm
Made a few more of these. Been a hot seller right off the bat. We also have a pattern welded blade to shape and ready for grinding and HT. I plan on doing a wood handle. I havnt decided what shape to do it yet as there are quite a few options for a correct yataghan. Either way it will be nice.

Here is the most recent yata. Its 26" of blade and its prob my favorite size that we have made yet.
