Hi
I am after a some info on a suit. (pictures below)
I am an armourer from new zealand and am trying currently to make a replica of the suit in said pics.
i would also like to know what armoury it is held in so i may go and see it when i go on my O.E.
if anyone has any information regaurding this suit can they please post it?
any pics att all would be helpfull (the more the meryer) particualy of construction and the inside if at all possable.
or email addresses fro the people that may be able to provide said pics (owners/caretakers)

that exact harness, or just the general erm... species* of black and white 1550's-1580's style harnesses?
if the general style I should be able to dig out some images for you - they type is pretty common after all. there's at least onein the kelvingrove I can think of, and goodness knows how many in places like Vienna, Munchen, and Graz.
* (I now have a mental image of a herd of black and white harnesses like Holstein cattle...  )

ok, I know I have more info somewhere, on the one in the Kelvingrove, having had the opportunity to peek closely at it in the past...
but I'll damned if I can dinf the photos today.
the harnesses are pretty common, particularly of nuremburg or sometimes innsbruck origin, and seem to have been an almost ubiquitous equipment for footsoldiers.
a few have greaves and sabatons, some were worn with burgeonets instead of morions, gauntlets were common, elbow defence not so common but still there. Some also have besegaws for the armpit.
A lot of the photographs I have are high resolution, and wont attach here, so if you'd like to send me a PM, I'll email them in your direction.
meanwhile, here's some pics of related peices.
a replica by, I *think* Chris Gilllman, which does a good show of the harness in context with the clothing, and some smaller photos of originals with arm defences

Greetings!
I would say that the breastplate was made in Nürnberg, according to my best knowledge such ,,M" shaped decoration is typical to the armour made there. As I red in the book Harnisch und helm by Dr. Peter Krenn, the black and white decoration was often used on the suits of officers. If you are interested in such armour, I'd recommend the Arsenal of Graz (or Landeszeughaus Graz), wich is the only arsenal wich still serves sthe same function. The feeling of the place is incredible!

yeh it is indeed from Nürnberg
dose anyone have any pictures of the construction of the gorget with the shoulder incorporated into it?
like as in pics of the inside as they would be very useful becaulse that is the next stage of the suit i am making.
after i finish the pair of gauntlets.
