HI, here is a new saber to check out. The blade is marquenched and tempered 5160-H steel and the false edge is sharpened. The side shell is keyed on and peened on other side like a Messer. The slabs are desert ironwood the pommel is keyed and peened. it is a fun sword but not fun to carve:) Thanks!

John,
I was admiring that saber blade you showed at the bottom of the group of blades in your last post, is it the same or are there two of a kind?
I love the final look . I presume the bear is a special order by the new owner . I wonder what it would look like with a standard disk pommel, with just enough surface for some engraving or etching, and then of course I wonder what the price would be...Xmas will come again, and I'm trying to be a damned good boy...whoops! another quarter in the swear jar, soon I'll have enough for another project....

Of course it's a lion! Been watching to many reports about the economy, bear market, bull market.... you end up losing the feeling for the feline.
And if that isn't acceptable as an excuse, how about an old fashioned apology ? There must be one lying around here somewhere..
But seriously, bear or lion, that is a fine piece of work with a lot of ''oomph!'' in it. So are there any more similar blades in the works?

Not like this one but I am busy with a bunch of new stuff. Certainly no new hand carved steel animal's January is the next month I can fill with new orders if anyone is interested, unless it is a bare blade and in that case it would be sooner as I could squeeze it into schedual.

I'm surprized that folks remember that cult film. I just put that name on for grins, the customer was going to name it "Amra" which is good.

Cool saber, but... ha ha - Zardoz? Worst movie ever. Ever! Unless you like Sean Connery in red nappies, go go boots and bandoliers. I guess the pommel does look something like the floating head, though.

The grip isn't really to my taste, but the guard is really nice and I do love sabers with serious pommels. Over-all, that's a really nice sword.

Well, it's not like it's easy to forget..
Once you've seen that outfit they put Connery in, it cannot be unseen.

You Guys are hilarious! Folks don't worrie about it, as it is just a fun folk cult film made when that stuff was part of every day life. Before breakdancing, before disco or rap, before the hairbands, Zardos was just alot of fun on a later Saterday night, as was' Dawn of the dead' and other midnight flicks. The sword though is more about performance and comfortable mobility and power. Odin's are all about performance
