After many year it has finally come out. It is free to download.

Description from the website:

" "A Long Time Ago in Ilza" is an adventure tale with elements of chivalric romance, set in 13th century Poland.

There has come a dark time of interregnum. The country, torn apart by internal conflicts, has plunged into chaos. The freedom and independence loving Sir Piotr Wasek a rebellious knight, dwelling in Ilza castle, decides to marry the daughter of a Ruthanian Kniazh (or duke). The deal is there to secure a strong alliance for him in the fight against anyone wishing to make him his subject.

The Bishop of Cracow - an old church official, believes him to be a common troublemaker, who ought to be tamed beyond all costs. Piotr was the only one who refused to pay him homage. Sending an army against him did not bring the desired results. And so he decides to act differently. Having found out about the planned wedding, he sends out his entrusted man, who kidnaps the young princess, during her journey. Her place is taken by the Bishop's secret agent, a ruthless woman, whose quest is to eliminate the young noble. Accident has it, however, that a young knight named Macko, who escorts the princess, survives the attack on the convoy and decides to rescue her from the kidnappers, on his own. Another bloody conflict is about to start.

The film is a completely independent production, created with amateur means, and with a very small budget. Still, it is a feature done on a scale unseen in amateur films before. It was possible, thanks to the unbiased help and passion of many living history society members, and others. The work, from the first shot, to the completion of the post-production lasted for four and a half years."
Nice movie,
I like the Polish historical movies a lot, their human scale...dziękuję bardzo!!
The trailer looked nice. Downloading...
I am curious what do you think about this movie. :)
Hi I like, that's not a N billion dollar Spielberg production but everybody plays fine. Concerning the historical side of the movie, the problem is I know very little about the Poland of that time.
I've already been very surprised when I saw some people with "monk-like" haircuts, chainmail shirts and fur cloaks in a story happening during the XVIIe century so Middle Ages... :\
I saw a majority of classical European knights and soldiers of the time but also some fighters in the "hussar" style using sabres, is it historical?
There were some warriors from Eastern Europe in the movie.
I'm not a specialist in 13th century Eastern Europe, but as far as I know they looked quite ok.

Thanks, I'll try.
There were subtitles in the youtube preview, but I have yet to see any in the movie? Is there any way to turn them on?
The text file will play as subtitles in windows media player if it is in the same directory.

I clicked on the text link, but it just opens in a new tab. How do you place it into a directory with the film? I'm not terribly computer literate.
hm. is it dubbed in english ? or only subtitles ?

if so, i`ll wait for the german dubbing, which hopefully comes faster than the usuall ~6 months for english films, as this movie is free.

Right click on the file, than save as. Now it should download as .txt file which can be used with many players like GOM player or ALL player. Or you can send me PM with your email and I'll give you that file ;)
Hi,
the text file ans the movie were in the same directory and VLC did add the subtitles without I anything had to do.
